On March 15, 2024 from 4-8 PM, Love Your Buns will host the 2025 Battle of the Buns!
This event is fun, educational, and family-friendly and will feature:
💙 The Battle of the Buns - a baking competition featuring area professionals and baking enthusiasts providing sweet and savory baked items
💙 The Battle of the Bands - a friendly competition featuring local youth rock bands
💙 Educational talks from our featured speakers: Dr. John Bassett, Gastroenterologist, Sanford Health, and Sara Anderson – Survivorship Program Mgr, Essentia Health
💙 Win Prizes - 50/50, Raffles, Prize Drawings
💙 Kids Crafts!
💙 Special guest judges, Brian Shawn (Sanford Health), Pat Monson (Live Like Rach), and more!
This event will feature some of the Fargo-Moorhead area’s best professional and amateur chefs, bakers or cooks as we come together raising awareness and funding for programs benefiting cancer survivors, caregivers, and family members. Join us in the celebration!
Your support for our event will help us fund our initiatives: oncologic physical therapy, walk & talk support groups, patient & caregiver education, and increasing awareness around rectal cancer.

How to Participate
To participate, please signup through our online form, or email us at jarod@loveyourbuns.org, with a description of your buns (or pastries, etc.) and estimated amount of items being provided. This fee also allows participants to bring in any advertising materials as desired.
Participants should bring a minimum of 4-dozen bakery items, however, a greater quantity of items available for visitors will mean a greater opportunity for voting. Each bakery/participant should aim to have at least one staff member on hand during the event.
Volunteer

Fees
$5 admission get 5 tasting tickets, and 5 voting tickets to support your favorites!
Registration Deadline
The deadline to submit your registration via this online form or via email is March 11, 2025.
Who is Love Your Buns?
Love Your Buns aims to remove stigma and improve awareness around rectal cancer, its increasing incidence and to increase knowledge of its symptoms. An increasing epidemic in young adults, rectal cancer is easy to remove if caught early, however due to a variety of reasons, young adults are not likely to seek screening options like colonoscopies. This gap in screening is leading to more advanced disease at diagnosis and more challenging and strenuous treatment.
Battle of the Buns – we’re on a roll!
In 2019, 700+ attendees raised $20,000 at the inaugural Battle of the Buns event. The event had 11 bands and performers, 150 Silent Auction packages, and was covered by multiple media channels, including TV and Radio. In 2020, we were all set to host our 2nd Annual Battle of the Buns in the baking competition format but were cut short due to the rising concern for community spread of COVID.
In 2023 and 2024 we returned with the Battle of the Buns baking competition! Delicious sweet and savory entries were featured and a great time was had by all, even in the midst of a snow storm in 2023!
This year we continue with our baking competition, but are ALSO bringing back our battle of the bands! We hope to share more information about this very soon, in the meantime if any questions or interest in participating, please email jarod@loveyourbuns.org.
