Educational Background

I grew up in various small towns in North and South Dakota, graduating from Central Cass High School in 2004. I could never figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up, so I have a variety of college courses under my belt, ranging from dental hygiene, psychology, exercise science, to neuroscience. It’s safe to say I love science and the human body. I am continuously fascinated by what we are capable of and how much we have yet to discover.

I finally decided on staying at home to raise my children until I found a clearer answer to what my life path was. While staying home with my kids, I volunteered for various organizations to support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and any social justice cause I could find. I was a bit of a career volunteer. During this time, as a new mother and volunteer, I learned a whole new level of empathy, understanding, and just how important our community is when it comes to helping others and creating awareness.

Professional History

After joining a CrossFit box, I finally knew what I wanted to be when I grow up. I was a die-hard athlete growing up and had previously spent some time coaching basketball and gymnastics, but the love I had for these sports held no comparison to my passion for CrossFit and the community it created while improving people’s lives. There’s just nothing like it.

I have been coaching at CrossFit Fargo since June 2018 and am the director of our youth program, Youth Empowerment Systems. I am incredibly passionate about the opportunity I have to help shape our youth and to empower and create our future leaders.

Family and Personal Interests

My involvement with CrossFit Fargo is continuously growing and evolving and I’m excited about everything that lies ahead. I am in the midst of a lot of fun, impactful projects that I can’t wait to share with the world. I have been snatching up every opportunity I can to learn and grow as a coach. I was fortunate enough to get my certification in CrossFit Gymnastics as well as USA Olympic Lifting this past year and I have been working on my certification with Precision Nutrition. I was also just accepted into the 35 Under 35 Leadership Program and am looking forward to everything I have yet to learn and can bring to Love Your Buns.

I adore my family, friends, being outdoors, traveling, and reading. If I could adopt all the dogs, I would. I don’t know how people get through life without dogs. They bring so much joy and entertainment, not to mention, they make the best clean-up crew when you have kids.

Why Love Your Buns is Important to Me

I was honored to be asked to join Love You Buns this fall. Sara and Jarod’s oldest son is friends with my oldest son and it has been a joy to get the know their family. I have a lot to learn and am dedicated to doing my best to help LYB reach our community to provide the support, resources, and awareness we need while putting the end to the stigma surrounding this issue. We have been working on some big goals that I’m so proud to be a part of.

Toilet paper: over or under? I can instantly sum up a person by asking this question because there is only one correct answer: Over. Under no circumstance is it correct to have the toilet paper under. If I visit your home and you have it under, I will correct it because you are wrong. 😉
